NICE Guidance for Looked after Children – Important request to APMT Members
As you will be aware the APMT been working hard to engage with the various agendas which give opportunity to raise awareness for consideration of the evidence base for Music therapy and the Arts Therapies. Our inclusion in NICE updated guidance on Schizophrenia last year was a major positive breakthrough which is now impacting on sustaining and development of services in Adult mental health. The impact of having an experienced music therapist (Anna Maratos) on the guideline development group was integral to this good outcome.
NICE are currently developing guidance which looks at the Physical and Emotional health and wellbeing of looked after children. I’m pleased to say that an Art therapist has been appointed to sit on the guideline development group for this new guideline. Arts therapies and play therapy professional bodies have come together with significant co-ordination input from an experienced music therapist working in this field - Joy Hasler.
The APMT needs its members to support this important work. Please find the attached questionnaire which is being circulated to the various arts/play professional bodies.
I’d request you have a look at it and if relevant to your experience take the short amount of time to complete it and return to Joy.
With thanks
Stephen Sandford
